We have been  participating in the East Lothian Environment Forum which has worked with East Lothian Council to draft this policy. It is pretty concise and readable so please do take this opportunity to read and comment on it.  It will play an important role in the shaping policy at the East Lothian level which in turn will be crucial in enabling the creation of the low carbon locally resilient future which we are working for.

Join to investigate and develop fresh ideas, help make the local economy more sustainable and develop projects which progress the aims of Sustaining Dunbar to develop a more resilient, self sufficient, low carbon community and economy.

We are currently researching some ideas and hope to gather like minded individuals together to take actions which will benefit current and future businesses in the area. We plan to form more links with other local organisations and to form a network to enable communication and sharing between the various enterprise initiatives already started or being planned by Sustaining Dunbar’s working groups.

Some ideas currently under investigation are:

• The prospect of starting a market in Dunbar town centre to provide local shops and small craft and food producers with a regular novel event in which to make sales, attract more visitors to the high street and provide a stepping stone for the growth of smaller ventures. (What do you think?)
• Create stronger links with the Dunbar Harbour Trust to support their important developments of the harbour area and make suggestions for possible uses of the Battery and Lamer Island after its upcoming renovation. (Any ideas/suggestions)
• To possibly develop business incubation units in Dunbar to help increased SME formation, growth, survival and create more local jobs in the future. (What do you think? where could this be located? Do you have any spare office space?)

Dunbar and District = Ward 7

You are invited to an open meeting in Dunbar Primary School Hall April 26th or West Barns Primary School Hall April 27th. Come along and have your say about what you want your area to be like by 2025! All ages welcome.

The 2025 Mapping and Action Planning Project Team is out and about gathering your views and ideas regarding: home energy efficiency, accessibility to local food, public transport and employment. The meeting will start at 7:30. We will feedback the local survey findings so far and enable you to record your views and ideas for making your area an even better place to live in by 2025.
